Keito the English Boy

Hello

My name is Amanda and...well, I'm homeschooled.  But when I was in regular high school, I enjoyed being part of fca.  The leaders of it called it the Fellowship of Christian Anybodys. LOL  Since very few who joined it were athletes and they didn't want to limit the members to just Christian athletes, ya know?  It was really fun and I'm glad to have stumbled onto this online fca to take the place of my high school's fca. :)

In a recent devotional by Elisabeth Elliot, she listed 8 questions to ask before a church should decide to boot out a pastor.

(taken from godly_gals and GodlyGals boards)

"Before we take such a position of sovereignty, assuming we know the root of the trouble and are warranted in enforcing our "solution," might we not ask ourselves a few questions? (I do not refer here, of course, to cases which unequivocally call for dismissal, such as immorality or heresy.)

1. Who called this pastor? Was it the bishop? The church? Was the decision prayed over? Do we believe in the Holy Spirit's guidance?
2. Do we understand the shepherd of the flock to be one who bears responsibility and authority? "Encourage and rebuke with all authority" was the apostle Paul's word to a young shepherd (Titus 2:15, NIV). To Timothy he said, "Command and teach" (1 Timothy 4:11, NIV). "Obey your leaders and submit to their authority...so that their work will be a joy, not a burden" (Hebrews 13:17, NIV). Have we respected that divine assignment?

Attention: Ladies!

Hi everyone! I was searching through some interests and this community came up. I thought this would be a great place share the following with you. (Mods, if there is anything wrong with me posting this, please let me know and I'll delete it. My aim isn't to upset anyone...just trying to fellowship with other believers!)

My name is Liz and I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you all about an online ministry geared toward young women. It's called GodlyGals. We've had a community here on lj for some time now (godly_gals), but now things are getting started in other areas. Our message board is up (http://godlygals.com/board) and very soon we will have our online magazine going (http://godlygals.com - nothing there yet!).

We discuss current events, issues that are a concern, dating, health, and lots of other things that are deemed appropriate. Soon we will also have a Bible study, book club, prayer list, and lots of discussion over Biblical topics. We need people to join and help us build this ministry!

God has laid it on my heart to minister to young women and I am using the talents he has given me and the avenues he has opened for me to do so. I would really appreciate you taking a look at what we have and becoming a part of what I truly believe is something that will bring glory to God. Thank you!

Final Update

I can't really type anything so I copied the e-mail that was sent to the campus.

Dear Bethany Community,

Our dear friend, teacher, and colleague, Roger Bishop, died Tuesday night around 11:00 p.m. He was surrounded by his family and died very peacefully and without pain.

We will gather as a community of prayer in Chapel this morning at 10:30 to give thanks to God for Roger’s life.

The time for the funeral will be determined later today.
Rest eternal grant him, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him.

Peace,

Noni Strand
Campus Pastor

Please pray for our community as we try to cope with this matter.

Update

Here is an update on my professor. Well today...Thursday he is having a colonoscopy. He does have some form of cancer. He is meeting with the oncologist on monday to come up with treatment ideas. He is still teaching. He is losing strength in his left left, he has trouble speaking because he has to gasp for breath, he is also losing a lot of weight. His wife is being as strong as she can, considering all the health problems she went through at the beginning of the year. His kids are having a rough time dealing with it. Just please keep praying for him. They need all the prayers they can get.

Thanks so much and God Bless

Prayer Request

I am asking everyone to please pray for my college professor and Advisor, Roger Bishop. He has started to undergo testing for what they have found to be lesions on the back of his brain which they think started in either his stomach or pelvic region. He has also form lumps on his neck and under his left arm. The lump under his left arm is causing him to lose feeling and movement in his arm. Please pray for him and his Wife Gem. They are great people and he is a huge asset to the Bethany College Community.

God Bless
Bruce

In the World, But Not of It

I didn't put up a struggle and I fell head long into sin.  And when the opportunity came, I saw a way to move out of that world.

But God held me there and said, "Stay."

I believe that with your prayer,  God's hands will move on the Co-Ops.  That God will start something new here and change us from the inside out.  I need your help though.

I'm asking for prayer pledges.

Thank you.

James 1:5-8

5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.
